ब्राह्म और क्षात्र का समन्वय

ಉಕ್ತಿ ಎಂದರೆ ನುಡಿ, ಹೇಳಿಕೆ ಎಂಬೆಲ್ಲ ಅರ್ಥಗಳುಂಟು. ಬರಿಯ ಮಾತಿಗೆ ಸೊಗಸು ಬಂದಾಗ ಅದೊಂದು ವಿಶೇಷವೆನಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಇದು ಕವಿತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಎದ್ದುಕಾಣುತ್ತದೆ; ಇದಿಲ್ಲದ ಪಕ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾವ್ಯತ್ವಕ್ಕೆ ಕುಂದು ಬರುತ್ತದೆ. ಆದುದರಿಂದಲೇ ಕಾವ್ಯವನ್ನು ‘ಉಕ್ತಿವಿಶೇಷ’ ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಾರೆ. ರಾಜಶೇಖರನ ‘ಕರ್ಪೂರಮಂಜರೀ’ (೧.೮) ಎಂಬ ಪ್ರಾಕೃತರೂಪಕ ಈ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಸಮರ್ಥವಾಗಿ ನಿರೂಪಿಸುತ್ತದೆ: “ಉತ್ತಿವಿಸೇಸೋ ಕವ್ವಮ್” (ಉಕ್ತಿವಿಶೇಷಃ ಕಾವ್ಯಮ್). ಈ ಅಂಶವನ್ನೇ ‘ವಕ್ರತೆ’ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರಿನಿಂದ ಕುಂತಕ ವಿಸ್ತೃತವಾಗಿ ವಿವೇಚಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ಅವನ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ವಕ್ರತೆಯೆಂಬುದು...
