೫ ದೃಷ್ಟಾಂತವು ಔಪಮ್ಯಪ್ರಕಾರದ ಅಲಂಕಾರಗಳಲ್ಲೊಂದು. ಹೋಲಿಸುವ ಮತ್ತು ಹೋಲಿಸಲ್ಪಡುವ ವಸ್ತುಗಳ ನಡುವೆ ಬಿಂಬ-ಪ್ರತಿಬಿಂಬಭಾವವು ರೂಪುಗೊಂಡಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಅಲಂಕಾರವು ಸಿದ್ಧ. ಇದು ಬಲುಮಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಉಪಮೆಯಂತೆಯೇ ಹೌದು. ಆದರೆ ಪ್ರಸ್ಫುಟವಾದ ಎರಡು ಸದೃಶಚಿತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ನಮ್ಮೆದುರು ನೀಡುವ ಕಾರಣ ಇದಕ್ಕೊಂದು ಬಗೆಯ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿತ್ವವುಂಟು. ಆದರೆ ಇಂಥ ಪ್ರಸ್ಫುಟೀಕರಣಪ್ರಯತ್ನವು ಕೆಲಮಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ವಾಚ್ಯತೆಯನ್ನುಂಟುಮಾಡುವ ಕಾರಣ ಉಪಮೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಗಮ್ಯಾರ್ಥಗಳಿಗಿಲ್ಲಿ ಅವಕಾಶವಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದುದರಿಂದಲೇ ಈ ಅಲಂಕಾರವನ್ನು ನೀತಿ-ತತ್ತ್ವ-ಉಪದೇಶಾದಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ವಿನಿಯೋಗಿಸುವುದುಂಟು....
